Haitian-American singer-songwriter ZAMA reclaims her peace through rhythm on “Répondeur,” a new konpa-fusion single that blends the signature sounds of Haitian and Afro-Caribbean music with contemporary R&B and pop influences.
Built around soulful vocals, layered harmonies and an infectious Konpa groove, “Répondeur” transforms the aftermath of a breakup into an upbeat statement of independence. Delivered in French, English and Haitian Creole, the track reflects ZAMA’s multicultural identity while exploring the balance between emotional closure and the freedom to move on.
At the centre of the song is its memorable refrain, “parle à mon répondeur,” meaning “talk to my voicemail.” The line captures the track’s central message: sometimes, protecting your peace means refusing to entertain a conversation that no longer serves you. Paired with a distinctive Konpa synth solo and easy, sing-along lyrics, the record turns personal heartbreak into a communal dance floor moment.
“Répondeur” builds on a period of consistent releases for ZAMA, following “Game Over,” which introduced listeners to her Konpa influences, and “U&I,” her collaboration with Haitian Afrohouse producer Francis Mercier. With the new single, she continues to refine a sound that brings together her Haitian heritage, American influences and multilingual songwriting.
