Born Gbemi Akinlade, T3D The Doctor is no stranger to the creative world. Since 2018, she’s been a rising star in Nollywood, featuring in some of Nigeria’s biggest movies like Battle on Buka Street, Day of Destiny, and The Order of Things. She’s also the lead in Clinically Speaking, a popular series on Accelerate TV and Showmax.
But before the spotlight, there was music. Growing up, T3D honed her vocal skills in her church choir. The passion never left, and in 2023, she earned a certification in Voice from the Music Society of Nigeria, reaffirming her love for music.
“Singing has always been a constant,” she says. “No matter what I was doing—acting, studying—I’d always find myself singing. It was second nature. It wasn’t until recently that I realized I could turn that into something more.”
Professionally, her music journey began during her penultimate year at medical school, University of Lagos. Now a certified medical doctor, T3D The Doctor is ready to fully explore the world of music.
“There was a point where I started thinking, how do I make being an artist and being a human in a structured society work for me? Music became my outlet, something that helped me express everything I was feeling. Acting is my love, but with music, it’s all me—my thoughts, my stories, my voice.”
Blending R&B, Soul, and Alternative sounds, T3D draws inspiration from artists like Adele, Asa, Lauryn Hill, and Sia. She released her debut single Selfish on October 11th, and it’s already receiving great reviews — a strong start to her music career.
Selfish tells the story of a lover who craves their partner’s full attention, seeking reassurance and emotional connection.
With her debut single out, T3D The Doctor is just getting started. Stream Selfish now and stay tuned—this multi-talented artist has so much more in store.
