Kabusa Oriental Choir and David Acekeyz Celebrate African Heritage on New Single “Cornerstone

Kabusa Oriental Choir joins forces with David Acekeyz on “Cornerstone,” a celebratory Afropop-choral anthem exploring heritage, cultural identity and the enduring connection between people and their ancestral homeland.

Released on September 25, 2026, the track blends rich Igbo choral arrangements with contemporary Amapiano log drums, percussion and bass, creating a sound that connects traditional vocal expression with modern dancefloor energy.

At the heart of “Cornerstone” is a message about remembering where you come from. Through poetic lyrics in Igbo and English, the song celebrates the richness and sacredness of the fatherland, presenting Black heritage as an essential foundation that cannot be erased or abandoned.

The song also speaks to the experience of migration and the longing for home. Addressing wanderers, travellers and members of the diaspora, it imagines a collective return to ancestral roots, celebrating the sense of belonging and cultural reconnection that comes with finding one’s way home.

For those navigating life away from their homeland, “Cornerstone” offers a message of remembrance, unity and cultural pride. Its themes build on the nostalgic warmth associated with the choir’s viral hit “Soso,” which has surpassed 63 million streams, while introducing a fresh rhythmic direction.

Written, composed and vocal-produced by Austin Chinemezu Nwamara, “Cornerstone” features David Acekeyz as producer and featured artist. Recording was handled by Samuel Adejoh (Samix), with mixing, mastering and Dolby Atmos by Harry Chaplin.

With “Cornerstone,” Kabusa Oriental Choir and David Acekeyz deliver a celebration of heritage that speaks to both those at home and those still finding their way back.
