Jugo Aces Brings Jazz-Tinged Afrobeats to Life on New Single “JÓJÓ

Nigerian singer, songwriter and performing artist Jugo Aces has released his latest single, “JÓJÓ,” a bright, dance-ready record that blends Afrobeats with subtle jazz inflections and an unmistakably feel-good spirit.

Released today, August 28, through Jugo Aces Music, “JÓJÓ” captures the artist in one of his most carefree musical moods yet. Rather than leaning into the introspective qualities often associated with his R&B and soul background, Jugo Aces turns toward movement, rhythm and uncomplicated joy. He has described the record as a song made while he was in a particularly good mood, with the intention of creating something that simply makes people want to dance.

Musically, “JÓJÓ” sits comfortably between contemporary Afrobeats and jazz, with saxophone from Blavk Kent adding an organic instrumental layer to the production. Kuspid handles the beat, while H Koko serves as producer and mixing engineer. Jugo Aces is credited as the song’s composer and lyricist. The record runs for just over two and a half minutes, keeping its groove concise and immediate.

The new single also represents another side of an artist whose catalogue has largely been shaped by R&B, soul and pop. With “JÓJÓ,” Jugo Aces embraces the rhythmic possibilities of African pop without completely abandoning the musicality that has defined his work.

Even before its release, the record had become a recurring presence across Jugo Aces’ social platforms, where he teased its arrival and encouraged listeners to prepare for what he described as an Afrobeat record infused with jazz and made to “dance n move.

For Jugo Aces, “JÓJÓ” is ultimately about joy without overthinking it. It is a record built for movement, good moods and the kind of moment where the only reasonable response to the music is to get up and dance.

JÓJÓ” by Jugo Aces is available now on streaming platforms.
