For two days, the University of Lagos transformed into a vibrant hub where music discovery, product education and youth culture converged, as Spotify’s Campus Drop initiative engaged more than 2,000 students through immersive experiences designed to connect them more deeply with music and the creative industry.
Held on 30 and 31 July 2026, Campus Drop reimagined familiar campus spaces into interactive environments that reflected how young Nigerians discover, consume and create music today. Across the two-day experience, students explored Spotify’s product offerings, gained firsthand industry knowledge and experienced live performances from some of Nigeria’s most promising emerging artists.
The experience opened at the Femi Gbajabiamila Female Hostel with No Data No Wahala, an activation focused on demonstrating how Spotify Premium’s Offline Listening feature seamlessly supports students’ everyday lifestyles.
Inside the Offline Oasis, students participated in interactive games, product demonstrations and podcast listening stations, discovering how playlists, albums and podcasts remain available even without an internet connection. The activation highlighted practical use cases for offline listening across lectures, commutes, study sessions and hostel life, reinforcing Spotify’s commitment to delivering uninterrupted music experiences wherever listeners are.

The second day shifted the conversation from how students experience music to how they can shape its future.
Fresh Finds on Campus began at Madhouse by Tikera before culminating in an evening showcase at the University of Lagos Sports Centre. Bringing together aspiring artists, student creators and future music executives, the programme provided attendees with valuable insights into building sustainable careers within today’s evolving music industry.
Students participated in a series of interactive workshops covering career development in music, Spotify’s Fresh Finds programme, assembling effective creative teams and developing impactful music marketing strategies. The sessions encouraged meaningful dialogue between industry professionals and students eager to better understand the business behind the music they love.
The day’s conversations transitioned into a live showcase celebrating the next generation of Nigerian talent.
Fresh Finds artists including Zaylevelten, Taves, Muyeez, Oshamo, Solana, Scotty Olorin, Lodu, Wave$tar and Dxtiny delivered energetic performances, bringing Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist to life before an enthusiastic student audience.

One of the evening’s defining moments came from Cappoditutti, a University of Lagos student artist who secured a place on the lineup after emerging victorious in a public vote conducted through Spotify Africa’s social media platforms. His performance underscored Spotify’s continued commitment to creating opportunities for emerging talent and connecting audiences with tomorrow’s breakout artists.
Throughout both days, media, creators and cultural tastemakers documented the experience alongside students, capturing moments that reflected not only memorable performances and product demonstrations but also a generation increasingly interested in understanding both the music they enjoy and the industry driving it.
“Young people don’t experience music in isolation; they discover it while building communities, learning new skills and sharing everyday moments,” said Victor Okpala, Artist & Label Partnerships Manager, West Africa, Spotify. “Campus Drop was designed around that reality. We wanted students to leave with something practical, whether that was understanding how Offline Listening fits into their lives or discovering an artist they hadn’t heard before. That’s what Spotify is designed to do: connect people to music, knowledge and one another.”
By combining product education, artist discovery and industry learning in one experience, Campus Drop demonstrated Spotify’s continued investment in empowering the next generation of music listeners and creators. Students left not only with new playlists, but also with fresh perspectives on the music business, meaningful industry connections and a deeper understanding of the opportunities available to them within Nigeria’s growing creative economy.
