Brussels, March 20, 2025 — The Brussels–Kinshasa music collective BRU-KIN announces the release of its new single, “Quartier Congo,” a vibrant soundscape inspired by the pulse of Matongé and reimagined through a contemporary lens.
Built on a laid-back hip-hop groove and threaded with the fluid guitar lines of soukous, “Quartier Congo” is animated by playful Lingala lyrics drawn from soccer chants and youth culture. The track captures a sense of movement, rhythm, and communal connection, where street energy meets refined studio craft.
At the heart of BRU-KIN are Sylvie Nawasadio (of Zap Mama) and producer Bart Petitjean (known for his work with Hakuna Patata). Together, they fuse Congolese dance rhythms with urban hip-hop production and subtle electronic textures. The result is a warm, sultry vocal performance layered over intricate instrumentation that rewards close listening.
With “Quartier Congo,” BRU-KIN offers more than a song—it presents a cultural dialogue between Matongé, Brussels, and Kinshasa, where tradition converses with the future in a shared musical language.
