Guinean-Bissau-born artist Ramiro Naka, one of the distinctive voices of Lusophone African music and a celebrated African cultural figure in Brazil, returns with “Nha Indimigo,” a new single featuring Patche di Rima and produced and arranged by Fred Laser.
Naka’s music has long occupied a space between cultures and traditions. His sound draws from African musical traditions, goubé, blues, and fado, while moving naturally between Creole, Mandjak, and Portuguese. With “Nha Indimigo,” he continues that cross-cultural approach while introducing a new collaboration to his evolving catalogue.
Naka’s musical journey began at an early age with legendary Guinean-Bissau groups Cobiana Jazz and Nkassa Cobra. After a period in Lisbon, he settled in Paris, where he developed an international career. His album Salvador, produced and arranged by Fred Laser for Mango/Island, marked an important moment in his emergence on the global stage.
His career has included collaborations with major artists and institutions including Carlinhos Brown, Olodum, and Manu Dibango. Beyond music, Naka has also established himself as an actor, taking the lead role in Flora Gomes’ Po di Sangui, which was selected for the 1996 Cannes Film Festival.
Naka’s latest chapter began in August 2025 with “Tchon Tchoma,” a collaboration with Tabanka Djaz. The release generated more than 275,000 YouTube views and three million Facebook views, alongside radio rotation across Guinea-Bissau, Angola, Portugal, Cape Verde, and France. The song also received coverage from outlets including TV5, Radio Africa, RFI, TV Guiné-Bissau, and RTP Africa. His August 1, 2025 concert was subsequently broadcast in full by RTP Africa in February 2026.
The momentum extended to Brazil, where Naka has received invitations to perform at several major cultural events. These include Consciência Negra celebrations organized by Fundação Cultural Palmares in Brasília, a performance at Femadum in Salvador da Bahia alongside Olodum, and the Akwaaba Festival at Museu Afro Brasil in São Paulo.
Now, with “Nha Indimigo,” Ramiro Naka builds on that renewed international presence, bringing together his longstanding musical heritage, contemporary collaboration, and deep connection to the Lusophone world.
