Nigerian Afrobeats star Tekno has officially released his highly anticipated third studio album, Where Did Love Go?, an eight-track project that showcases the melody, vulnerability, and songwriting finesse that have cemented his place as one of Afrobeats’ most enduring hitmakers.
Released via emPawa Africa, the album follows the successful rollout of the singles Bamboo, Press Button, and Matter, which have collectively generated more than 3.1 million streams across digital streaming platforms, setting the stage for one of Tekno’s most intimate bodies of work to date.
On Where Did Love Go?, Tekno takes a hands-on creative approach, producing four of the album’s eight tracks while collaborating with acclaimed producers Yung Willis, D’Meek, Justopac, and Tino. The result is a seamless blend of Afrobeats, Afropop, and dancehall influences, anchored by his unmistakable melodic style.
The album opens with Bamboo, a warm, groove-driven introduction that establishes its reflective tone, before transitioning into the dancehall-inspired energy of Press Button. Self-produced single Matter celebrates unwavering loyalty, while Port Au Prins explores the lengths one is willing to go for love. Wedding Day embraces themes of commitment and lasting partnership with uplifting melodies, followed by the easy-going romantic charm of Gently. The album concludes with Avelay, a feel-good anthem that redefines love through reliability, generosity, and the willingness to always be present for someone who matters.
Together, the eight songs present a multidimensional portrait of romance, touching on desire, vulnerability, uncertainty, devotion, commitment, and responsibility.
