Independent composer and songwriter Alex Alidor explores the musical heritage of Guadeloupe and the wider French Antilles on “Aménotep,” a vibrant new single that brings vintage Caribbean rhythms into conversation with contemporary production.
Driven by Creole lyricism, lively Antillean syncopation and Latin-influenced brass arrangements, the track draws from 1960s ballroom cadence, biguine and Afro-tropical music. Its sound is anchored by a playful vocal delivery, swinging rhythms and bold horn arrangements that evoke the energy of vintage Latin-American big bands.
Beyond its infectious dancefloor appeal, “Aménotep” reflects Alidor’s broader approach to songwriting and production. Rather than follow conventional industry formulas, he draws on established Caribbean musical traditions while making room for humour, spontaneity and storytelling. The result is a cross-cultural record that connects different musical eras and invites listeners beyond language barriers.
The single is already gaining early radio support, including airplay on Power Ace Radio, alongside interest from music curators.
With “Aménotep,” Alidor continues to explore the possibilities of Caribbean music through a sound that respects its historical foundations while embracing a contemporary audience.
“Aménotep” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
