Brooklyn-based artist Deozi introduces his latest body of work, The Default Human, a genre-spanning album that brings together Afrobeats, Dancehall, Rock, Blues, and Hip-Hop while exploring themes ranging from love and spirituality to politics, family, culture, and beauty.
Recorded at Brewery Recording Studio in Brooklyn, The Default Human reflects Deozi’s expansive approach to music and his interest in moving freely between genres and perspectives. Among the album’s featured tracks is “My Sweet Ride,” an Afrobeat and Dancehall-influenced record produced by Omito Beats and engineered by Ryan Kelly.
On “My Sweet Ride,” Deozi combines melodic lyricism with the rhythmic sensibilities of Afrobeats and Dancehall, while drawing from the rap traditions of the American East Coast and the Caribbean, both of which inform his cultural background.
The song centres on attraction, admiration, and companionship, presenting a celebration of feminine beauty and confidence through a narrative of sophisticated seduction. Deozi frames the relationship as an invitation to share in the pleasures and possibilities of life, giving the track a warm and celebratory quality.
“My Sweet Ride” also illustrates the broader musical approach behind The Default Human. Rather than remaining within a single genre, Deozi treats the album as an artistic sandbox where contrasting sounds and ideas can coexist.
