Born in Cameroon to a Franco-Spanish father and a Cameroonian-German mother, MMYC YC often describes himself as a “melting pot,” a phrase that captures the cultural blend shaping both his identity and artistry. He grew up in Gabon — the country he calls home at heart — where he developed a distinctly African sense of warmth, vitality, and approach to life, while also carrying a strong French cultural identity shaped by openness, diversity, and experience. Now based in France, MMYC YC moves fluidly between worlds as a computer engineer, dancer, songwriter, and proudly hybrid artist.
Earlier this year, MMYC YC lost his mother, Brigitte, to ALS (Charcot’s disease). She instilled in him values of humility, sincerity, and authenticity. While this loss did not directly inspire the song, it reawakened the poet he once was at 15 — writing, composing, and creating without filters. Songwriting once again became an outlet, a space for truth, and a personal artistic rebirth.

The scene was simple and almost cinematic, an improvised late-night dinner, a phone placed under a water bottle to mimic candlelight, peanuts, fruit and shrimp skewers, and a semi-sweet Bordeaux casting a warm, cozy glow.
