We are rooting for these ten Nigerian singers in 2025, and we think you should too.
This editorial lineup contains singers who have shown immense promise in the previous calendar year, making their presence undeniably known through the release of impressionable singles/bodies of works, and chart entries that have caught the eye of many, including our editors’.
Let’s dive right in.
Monaky
Monaky has been in the game for a while. The baritone crooner has found deep musical pockets, mirroring some of the vocal styles of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti and applying these vocal idiosyncrasies over modern hip-hop/Afrobeat instrumentals.
This singer has shown he has what it takes to be at the top of the musical charts. The last two bodies of work will convince you that he is one to watch out for in 2025.
Fola
Fast-rising Fola ascended from the ashes of obscurity into the limelight in 2024. His sleeper hit ‘Alone’ soon became one of music listeners’ top choices when he enlisted the help of popular Nigerian singer, Bnxn for a remix.
The captivating singer signed under Bella Shmurda’s label imprint, Dangbana Republik Records already boasts over one million listeners on Spotify, a testament to the promise that he holds.
Additionally, Fola’s ‘Alone ( Remix)’ and ‘Who Does That?’ peaked respectively at number four on Turntable’s official Nigeria Top 100 list. One can only wait to see what 2025 has in store for the artist.
Ayo Maff
Self-pronounced ‘Prince of the Streets’, Ayo Maff is next in a coveted line of street pop artists pre-destined to take the unique fusion of vocal stylings that rely mostly on street anecdotes, local beat patterns, and westernized chord progressions to the next level.
Ayo Maff is nineteen years old but embodies street orientation far beyond his years. His ability to convey emotions in a riveting manner has made him one of the most successful breakout artists of 2024. What awaits in 2025 for the artist remains an exciting mystery.
Fido
Fido’s rise is one for the books. Osha ( as he likes to call himself) swerved into the Nigerian music space under his terms. Disrupting the status quo of having to align with industry gatekeepers or big players before hitting the jackpot, Fido gained incredible success with his chart-topping debut single ‘Awolowo’.
And just when folks predicted him to be yet another one-hit wonder, following a series of under-swept remixes, in came the joyous ( pun intended) ‘Joy is Coming’.
With two chart-topping hit singles this early in his breakout, Fido is the man to beat in 2025.
Serotonin
The ridiculously gifted Serotonin, formerly under the management of Muyiwa Awoniyi ( Tems’ manager) is one singer whose 2025 we can’t wait to unfold.
Following the considerable success of his single, albeit dampened by the dramatic fallout with his ex-manager, he has been able to gain momentum amongst music listeners who find his sound distinct.
Although Serotonin appears to have taken a hiatus from his socials, following the controversial split, fans can only assume his silence is a set-up for a resurgence. A resurgence that would be met with ready ears.
Morravey
Morravey is getting the attention she deserves and we love this for her. Since cutting a music deal with Sony Music West Africa, Morravey has been making waves in her own right. Her Tik-tok spearheaded hit ‘Ifineme’
Morravey’s Ifineme has reached 4M+ streams across all platforms, 1.4M TikTok creations with 849M+ views, peaked as the #2 most Shazamed song in Nigeria, landed on the global Shazam chart, claimed #1 on TikTok Nigeria, and hit #20 on Instagram’s trending songs, among other amazing milestones.
These impressive stats achieved in 2024, position the singer as an interesting prospect in 2025.
Hyce
Hyce is one singer to look out for. Even though he shares his newfound relevance with recurring collaborators, BoyPee and Brown Joel of ‘Ogechi’ fame, there is this superstar aura that he embodies. It is immediate. This points to the prospect of him being the lead of the unofficial boy band and a talent to keep a close look at in 2025.
Estherrr
Estherrr is promising to say the least. The rising star who has found a bit of clout from her backup vocal stints for Popular Nigerian Neo-Fuji Artist Seyi Vibez is one whose antenna is on our radar.
Her online presence coupled with her vocal dexterity and writing prowess ushers her into this list of artists to watch out for in 2025.
