Mamadou Samb and the Others is a Paris-based Afrobeat and fusion group built around the distinctive voice and musical heritage of Senegalese griot singer Mamadou Samb.
The project was born from an unexpected professional encounter between Mamadou and Alex, a trumpeter who discovered his talent and was immediately drawn to the character of his voice. Recognizing the potential in his traditional musical background, Alex introduced Mamadou to Ben, a producer known for his work with hip-hop rhythms and beats.
That meeting laid the foundation for a collaborative project that brings together traditional Senegalese griot singing and contemporary production, creating a meeting point between West African musical heritage and modern Afrobeat and fusion sounds.
Based in Paris, Mamadou Samb and the Others continues to develop this cross-cultural musical identity, using the group’s diverse influences to connect traditional African storytelling with contemporary sounds.
