Los Angeles-based R&B artist Sofija welcomes a new chapter with “Waves,” a sensual, atmospheric single that captures the carefree feeling of summer, new romance, and allowing a connection to unfold without forcing it into something more.
Produced by David Rocha, “Waves” rides a smooth, beachy soundscape that mirrors the song’s central metaphor. Sofija compares the experience of navigating a casual connection to riding an ocean wave, surrendering to its movement rather than attempting to control where it takes you.
The song recounts a pleasantly surprising situationship that ultimately comes to an end without resentment. Instead of dwelling on what the relationship could have become, Sofija approaches the experience with gratitude, finding contentment in having enjoyed something for exactly what it was.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Sofija has been building her presence in the Los Angeles R&B scene since releasing her debut single, “Right Next To You,” in 2021. Her songwriting explores love, loss, spirituality, and the ongoing process of becoming, with an emphasis on creating music that gives listeners room to sit with their own emotions.
“Waves” follows Sofija’s debut EP, Reveal, released in 2025, and introduces the next phase of her artistic journey. The release will also receive its live debut when Sofija performs with ArtHouse Collective on September 26.
