Abrantie Simms and Ess Thee Legend Unite on New Finding My Rhythm EP 1

Ghanaian artists Abrantie Simms and Ess Thee Legend have released Finding My Rhythm EP 1, a four-track collaborative project that explores Highlife, contemporary Ghanaian sounds, and the relationships that shape creative expression.

Featuring Rie Osei, Marince Omario and $pacely, the EP brings together distinct voices across four songs: “Adwuma Wura,” “Kanea,” “Way You Move,” and “Testing Me (So Electric).” Together, the tracks explore themes of purpose, connection, movement and creative discovery.

The project grew organically from Simms and Ess Thee Legend’s early collaborations. The pair first connected through producer Kuvie, with their individual sessions eventually developing into a broader creative partnership. What began as a series of collaborations ultimately became Finding My Rhythm EP 1.

That collaborative process is central to the project’s identity. According to Kuvie, Ess’s willingness to listen, respond to direction and still trust her own instincts helped shape the music. This dynamic is particularly evident on “Testing Me (So Electric),” where an initial creative disagreement between Simms and Ess led to changes in the song’s direction. Ess ultimately trusted Simms’ approach, with the exchange contributing to the final record.

On “Kanea,” the creative process took a different route, with Simms giving Ess the freedom to interpret the song on her own terms. Her personality and songwriting subsequently became an important part of the record’s character.

The EP’s collaborative spirit also extends to its featured artists. Marince Omario’s contribution to “Adwuma Wura” emerged from conversations with Ess about work, sacrifice and the realities of establishing oneself as an adult. Those conversations eventually became the foundation for a song about purpose, perseverance and finding meaning in one’s work.

Across Finding My Rhythm EP 1, the creative process becomes part of the music itself. Direction, disagreement, trust and freedom all play a role in shaping the four-track project, giving the collaboration a sense of discovery rather than simply bringing two artists together for a collection of songs.

Finding My Rhythm EP 1 is available now on major streaming platforms worldwide.
