HAKUNA PATATA, the world music project of Brussels-based musician and producer Bart, proudly announces the release of its latest single, “It’s a Beautiful Day,” an uplifting and danceable record that celebrates joy, unity, and the unifying power of music across cultures.
The new single reunites Bart with two of his long-time international collaborators: Kenyan vocalist Doroh Kendy and Zimbabwean guitarist Ray Solo. Together, the trio delivers a vibrant musical experience built on warm African rhythms, infectious melodies, and an irresistible groove that perfectly captures the optimistic spirit of its title.
It’s a Beautiful Day” embodies the cross-cultural ethos that has become synonymous with HAKUNA PATATA’s artistic identity. Through its fusion of African musical traditions and contemporary world music influences, the single serves as a celebration of human connection, positivity, and the universal language of rhythm.
At the heart of the project is Bart, a Brussels-based musician whose passion for music spans more than four decades. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist and producer, Bart has spent over 45 years creating and exploring music, playing bass and guitar while overseeing much of his recording and production work from his home studio.
His musical journey began at the age of 14, leading to his first bands and eventually to professional experiences in a record store and as a DJ. Throughout the years, Bart has cultivated an expansive musical palette that embraces genres including reggae, dub, funk, soukous, African music, dance, house, cumbia, surf rock, samba, bossa nova, and Latin sounds. Despite these diverse influences, his enduring passion remains rooted in world music and its ability to bridge cultures and communities.
This broad creative vision has resulted in the development of twelve distinct musical projects under various names, with HAKUNA PATATA emerging as one of his most representative and globally inspired endeavours.
