Dream Empire Music (DEM) has formally addressed what it characterizes as a serious breach of contract and professional misconduct by its recording artist, Ekeh Chiaka Joseph, known in the music industry as Majeeed.
The label stated that the purpose of the public notice is to inform the general public, music industry stakeholders, and business partners of ongoing concerns regarding Majeeed’s alleged misconduct and abandonment of his contractual duties as of December 2024.
According to the statement, Majeeed is accused of engaging in unauthorized international travel, failing to appear at fully paid performances, and accepting independent bookings without prior notification or consent from the label. DEM claims these actions have led to financial losses totaling ₦105 million.
The label further warned that any individual or organization engaging with Majeeed without express written consent from Dream Empire Music “shall be deemed complicit,” and may face legal consequences.
“We urge all stakeholders to exercise due diligence and comply with industry best practices,” the statement reads. “Transactions that circumvent existing contractual agreements not only undermine the legal framework of the music industry but also enable unethical behavior.”
As tensions escalate, this announcement marks a pivotal moment in the relationship between Majeeed and Dream Empire Music, with the possibility of legal proceedings on the horizon.
