Upper Spotlight: Anabel Rose

Anabel Rose, a Filipino-Ghanaian alt-pop artist, is on a path of sonic exploration marked by unapologetic freedom, captivating a growing global audience. Singing since she was eight years old, Anabel has always been a natural performer.

Now, as a recording artist with three singles released, she’s steadily cementing her eclectic sound and creative direction. Rooted in pop, her music incorporates elements of rock, R&B, alté, house, and bossa nova, drawing inspiration from artists unafraid to fuse genres to create new sounds, including Amaarae, Somadina, WILLOW, and Teezo Touchdown.

Her single “DND” played a major role in growing her listener base, the Rosalindas, and earned her a nod from Native Magazine as one of November 2023’s best new artists, while “Lungs” secured her spot as the cover artist for H&M’s global Spotify playlist.

In her second year of recording, Anabel has already been nominated for two
3Music Awards, affirming the star as an emerging force in Ghana’s alternative music scene.

A member of the Ghanaian music collective 99PHACES, Anabel thrives on collaboration and community. Her career began as a Black Girls Glow fellow in 2018, where she shaped her artistic identity and continues to engage in work that intersects music and social development.

Through her music, Anabel Rose invites listeners to experience life
and music without the fear of external validation
