Upper Spotlight: AY Papii

Meet AY Papii, a visionary creative director whose innovative approach is reshaping the industry one frame at a time. His journey is a testament to passion and creativity, seen through a dynamic lens that captures the essence of modern art.

From a young age, AY Papii found himself visualizing music video concepts while listening to songs. However, it wasn’t until 2020 that he officially embarked on his path as a creative director. Starting his career as a cinematographer, he worked with Chocolate City from February 2023 to November 2023, honing his skills and bringing fresh perspectives to the table.

Currently, AY Papii serves as the creative director for Young Legend, the record label of superstar Joeboy. His recent projects include the short film Is Love Not Enough, the visual for Joeboy’s latest single Zombie, and the cover art for the Body, Spirit, and Soul EP as well as the Adenuga/Concerning two-pack. These works showcase his ability to blend storytelling with striking visuals, a style inspired by visionaries like Cole Bennett and Spike Lee.

In addition to his role at Young Legend, AY Papii has founded KnackC, a creative powerhouse that unites talented individuals to collaborate and innovate. With a focus on merging culture with creativity, KnackC aims to craft unforgettable experiences. AY Papii’s vision for KnackC is to build a community that pushes the boundaries of art, design, and storytelling, setting new standards in the creative industry in Nigeria and beyond. It’s a space where the texture of culture is deeply embedded in every creation.

As AY Papii continues to rise, he remains committed to working with talented Nigerian creatives and aspires to collaborate with boundary-pushers like Travis Scott, Aminé, and other visionaries whose work is redefining the creative landscape. His journey is only just beginning, and his influence is set to grow as he continues to innovate and inspire.
